Description

Buying a new pair of shoes when your old ones get damaged is not always a practical thing to do, especially when there are shoe repair shops that can help you.

Any cobbler can replace damaged soles and heels. You can even request for a different height of heels if you want to. Depending on how much damage your pair of shoes has, you can expect to pay from around £19 to have your shoes fixed or altered. Take note that if you want a more complex alteration, you would have to pay a higher cost.

A cobbler would first work on and rebuild the damaged part. Afterwards, they will put on the new soles and heels, secure them with glue and lock the materials together. They may then need to trim the edges and then stitch the new parts in to ensure that they are securely attached. After some polishing, your shoes could look like new again.

Every cobbler is different, and each of them does their job differently. The important thing is, they will be able to fix your shoes and save you from spending more money on a new pair.

Gents Stick-on Soles

Shoe Repair
Stick-on soles are there to provide anti-slip properties for the shoes and also to remedy small tears on soles before the damage gets worse. If you haven’t been to a shoe repair shop before, consider choosing an independant one as they may charge less. Bigger repair companies tend to be more expensive as they have bigger overheads. Nevertheless, there’s no harm in doing research and comparing prices before you decide on a shop.

Walking Boot Repairs – Full Vibram Sole

Shoe Repair
The cost of buying a new pair of quality walking boots can be high, therefore having them repaired with a quality sole makes good sense. You should be aware that a cheap, brand new pair of walking boots can often be bought for less than a quality repair, however they are often inferior quality and many find them uncomfortable. A complete resole repair can be a laborious process for the cobbler so the price often reflects this. Your boots current sole is patched or removed prepped and glued, and after the resoling process the boots are finished by hand, and then usually conditioned for waterproofing. The price guide quoted here is for the entire units. However it is often possible to get the heel or the sole repaired without replacing the entire unit. These repairs can be more cost effective and just as durable, but perhaps not quite as aesthetically pleasing.
